Classification

Delheim, located in South Africa`s Stellenbosch wine growing region is a name synonomous with fine wine. The winery first began taking root in 1940 when Hans Hoheisen cleared the the scrub from the lower slopes of his Simonsberg valley site and, following his own research and advice from the esteemed viticulturist Professor Perold decided to plant vines including Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon & Cape Riesling. Since those founding years and throughout the many following years of hard work and determination the the winery has seen many changes, expanding in size and productivity but never compromising on quality.

The name Delheim is a tribute to the wife of Hans Hoheisen, Deli and years later his nephew Spatz Sperling gave his wife Vera Sperling the same honour by naming his new vineyards after her, hence the name Vera Cruz. The vineyard soils and climate here are perfect for producing full bodied muscualr red wines but due to the stringent quality levels only a very small amount of the V

era Cruz wines are produced each year.

Intense blackberry, licquorice & spice aromas follow through on the rich, smooth & satisfying palate with notes of dried dark fruits, dark chocolate & smoke persisting in the long finish.
