The vineyards benefit from a particularly mild microclimate ensuring optimum conditions for the grapes to grow and only organic fertilisers are used on the estate. Ateo was created following a less than ideal Brunello vintage in 1989 which coincided with the first harvest of newly planted Cabernet Sauvignon & Merlot vineyards. The success of Ateo was such that it has since become a classic wine for the estate. The bouquet is herbal, spicy, and with open blackurrant, blackberry, licorice & eucalyptus aromas. Finely structured & full bodied with soft, fleshy fruit balanced harmoniously with firm tannins.
