The winery itself takes its name from the bay at the eastern tip of the valley, named Cloudy Bay by Capatain Cook in 1770 due to the silty flood waters running in from the Wairau River. Established in 1985 and currently owned by the Moet Henessey Group, Cloudy Bay rocketed to fame thanks to the global popularity of its Sauvignon Blanc. The winery has an extensive range of top quality wines, including sparkling, and continues to produce wines that are faithful to their natural terrorir and the individual characters of the fruit. Cloudy Bay are committed to sustainable and environmentally friendly viticultural methods. Pale gold in colour with a fine mousse. Aromas of ripe citrus & tropical fruits. Golden apple & candied lemon blend with bready vanilla notes resulting from two years bottle ageing on lees. The palate is deliciously crisp with great minerality that complements the toasty oak and creamy texture beautifully. Notes of hazelnut, light acacia honey and brioche linger in the finish.
