The winery has been a Marchese de Frescobaldi owned estate since 1989, prior to this date Castelgiocondo was already known as a top Brunello di Montalcino producer, this reputation has continued and flourished under the current esteemed Frescobaldi ownership. The Brunello di Montalcino Riserva is the result of a meticulous selection process of only the finest grapes, 2000 was a very good vintage producing highly coloured and intensely flavoured fruit. The wine is garnet red in colour with a ruby rim, perfumed black cherry aromas mingle with tobacco leaf, spiced cedar, cocoa, nutmeg, roast hazelnut and leather. The palate has impressive depth and a luxurious full body, ripe red & black forest fruit flavours blend seamlessly savoury herbal elements and warming vanilla oak.
