Michel Laroche joined the domaine in 1967 and since then the estate has grown from 6 hectares to an extremely impressive 100 hectares of vineyards. The combination of the Kimmeridgian soils native to Chablis and the favourable climate make the Laroche vineyards perfect for growing top quality Chardonnay grapes & once nature has done its work the dedication & expertise of Domaine Laroche turn the juice into the superb Chablis wines you can taste today. The Laroche Chablis Premier Cru Vielles Vignes is a great wine, the grapes are from very old vines that grow on a south west facing foothill, protected from the northern wind they ripen earlier & for longer, producing a great depth of flavour. 70% of the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation while 14% is fermented & aged in oak barrels, the rest in stainless steel to preserve the fruit flavours & mineralic freshness. G old in colour with floral, honeyed orchard fruit aromas & buttery hints that follow through onto a generous palate flecked with fresh mineral notes. Well rounded with a fine structure, this wine can mature up to 15 years. www.domaine-laroche.com Chardonnay 100% Chablis is a great match for fish & seafood dishes such as scallops, sole, turbot, crab or shrimp, particularly when simply prepared in a light buttery or cream based sauce.
