Chapoutier began producing wines in 1808 and the winery remains within the Chapoutier family control today. The Chapoutier philosophy has always been to work with nature, their family motto is "Fac et Spera"which means do and hope, a reflection of the need for both dynamism and patience in the conquest to create their world renowned wines. The history of Chateauneuf du Pape is as rich and impressive as its wines, formerly a Papal residence for the Avignon Popes in the 14th century it was under Pope John XXII that the wines of this region became known as "Vin du Pape", later becoming Chateauneuf du Pape after the famous castle also built during his Papacy. Golden in colour with bright yellow reflections, on the nose aromas of lily, apple, peach & whispers of orange & lemon zest. Fresh orchard & white stone fruits on the full rich palate underscored with well balanced minerality & crisp acidity. Ageing is carried out on the lees giving a rich creamy texture & elegant structure withou losing any of the fruit flavours. The finish is deliciously aromatic. www.chapoutier.fr Grenache Blanc 100% A wine of surprising depth that will pair wonderfully with fish such as monkfish, trout or sole meuniere, grilled sea bass, scallops, seafood risotto, lobster, stuffed vegetables, cauliflower cheese, Oeufs en Cocotte, eggs Benedict. |
