Classification

4th Growth
The Chateau Beychevelle Estate houses one of the most classic & picturesque Chateaux of the Saint Julian Bordeaux region, the Chateau itself was built in the 17th Century and the rebuilt in 1757, while the winemaking history goes back even further to the middle ages. Chateau Beychevelle is a Fourth Growth Bordeaux known for wines of supreme elegance, that focus on flavour and balance rather than power.

The 2003 vintage produced a generously fruity wine demonstarted clearly by the abundant notes of cherry and black berry fruit in the bouquet, coupled with tinges of licorice, graphite and cedar. The palate is well rounded and fleshy with further cherry, blackcurrant and plum flavours. The finish is long with fine tannins, hints of cocoa, steeped damson and spiced oak.

A fantastic Bordeaux to pair with beef and steak dishes, particularly those with rich wine sauces or mushrooms. Also a great match for chicken, game and lamb, mushroom and truffle risotto, autumn vegetable casserole and full flavoured cheeses.
